Something Scary Happened at my House Yesterday
Not exactly sure what happened, but I thought I'd post pics so everyone would actually believe that this small miracle actually took place. Look at all those sparkles!

Lavendar Baby Afghan Finished
This is the one I made for Natasha's piano teacher. She just had her baby at the end of September so I am only a few weeks late :). I just finished it today and am very happy with how it came out. It took longer than I expected because I used a G crochet hook and I used baby yarn. I kind of just made the border up as I went along. It really doesn't lay as flat as I would like, and I could have taken it out and redone it, but I really just wanted to get it done and I kind of like how it turned out as it is.
Here is a close-up of the border.
Review by Talon the Blanket Model and New Blanket Tester:
"Hmmm, soft. Very girly, though. All in all, it makes me very sleepy. Two thumbs up."

What I have been up to....
See, I have been doing something....
I am making this little baby afghan for Natasha's piano teacher who just had a baby. I am almost finished with it. I only have a few more rows, and am trying to decide whether to add a lacy border or leave it as is.
Don't tell my husband, but I have actually been working on his green and blue afghan. I think I had come to a standstill because I had gotten bored making the squares. As you can see, I have decided to crochet in a different direction now that I have all the squares I have made joined together. Who knows what this will end up looking like. The good news is that I am liking it more and more now. I may even add in some of the leftover yarn from Talon's baby blanket, at my husband's suggestion recently. Hopefully the blues will be a close enough match...
We have also been visiting family a lot lately. Two of Jason's grandmothers recently had birthdays. Nana is 93 and Granmomma is 84. We went to visit Granmomma yesterday in the nursing home. She has the red rose cake.
Unfortunately the alzheimer's is getting to her, and her memory is going. Yesterday she kept saying how tired she was. It is sad to see.
Here is a group pic of all of us who came to her birthday party.
This is Talon sitting with Nana, playing with crayons
Group Pic at Nana's: Grand-Dad, Talon, Eliana, Jason, Nana, and Natasha (I was taking the pic)
A few from when we went to Uncle Joe and Aunt Phyllis' house: This is the kids with Aunt Pearl who was visiting from Michigan
snuggling with Aunt Phyllis
all piled up on Uncle Joe, helping him watch the UK Wildcat football game. Uncle Joe is Papaw's brother. Papaw, we still miss you and think about you all the time. We were thinking about you in September when it was your birthday. One day you were here with us, and then the next you were gone. My life is totally changed.
It is funny, but we have been to my mom and dad's several times but seem to have no pictures to show for it. We took tons of pics with my mom's camera, but I can't seem to get her to post any. This is your big hint, friends of Motherkitty.....send her a message. Tell her we want to see the pics. Or else her daughter might hijack her blog and post something silly.....
It has really been important to me to make time for family this year. Trying to make the most of the time, you know. A time and a season for everything, I know. It all seems to be going so fast. The other happy thoughts I have had lately are getting to see my brother when he comes in for Christmas and planning Thanksgiving at my house this year. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Oh, Look, Baby Can Use a Spoon
or...What Happens When You Check Your E-Mail Too Long
Talon was soooo happy that Natasha had left her almost empty pudding cup out, and a spoon, too! Luckily for the world, I took it really well, and didn't even get mad. I just went and got the camera, so I could share the funny moment with all of you, ha ha. Needless to say, baby got a bath immediately following his photo shoot.
