Spring is in the Air

Eliana and Talon at an Egg Hunt in the park

Talon's kitty Grey climbed up and fell asleep on him. What a sweet purry kitty. Talon loves this kitty and kitty loves him :)

Me at work outside sitting in a handmade willow chair getting some sunshine and vitamin D. I'm wearing a shawl I made for myself with Noro Silk Mountain yarn that I got from my brother and sister-in-law

colorful spring dishcloth I made pictured with one of my favorite homemade soaps at Raggle Taggle, the shop my friend has where I work. The soap is called Tranquility and has chamomile and lavender in it

I got to go with Natasha on their 7th grade field trip to Brandon Spring in Land Between the Lakes

the kids did some fishing with cane poles

they learned to tie on the fishing line, hook, and bobber, and also put on the worm

in one session, they had to build a lean-to survival shelter with just things found in the forest

part of the challenge was to make it big enough for 4 people to fit inside

proud group picture of part of our group just after we accomplished the Beaver March. We hiked 2 miles round trip to see a beaver dam. For some reason my phone in my pocket set the camera settings to sepia, and I didn't realize it for a few pics. :)

after the Beaver March we got to meet a rat snake named Herman. Natasha was holding him in this picture.

one of the sessions was an observation hike, using your 4 senses. It was at this time that I noticed the sepia setting.

Natasha in color on the observation hike. Funny story about the white floppy hat.
I went to the store to get myself a hat and couldn't decide on a color so I splurged and bought 2. I never buy things like that for myself much, but justified it because I knew I'd be at the Saturday Market most Saturday mornings this summer. Turns out Natasha tried to steal my pink hat before we left, and I texted Jason and he brought the white hat just before we got on the bus to head out. She wore that hat the whole time. Well...except for the time she wore her daddy's Boston Red Sox hat. I should have gotten a picture of the times she wore both hats at the same time. It was cute.

I remembered to have someone take a picture of both of us together on the last day in our floppy hats. I wanted to have a couple of pictures for her to remember me going with her. Somewhere out there are pictures of her social studies teacher wearing my pink floppy hat and sunglasses posed with Tasha in her white hat. What a fun trip! I was happy to go and proud that I was able to keep up with the kids on those hikes :)

this year some of my purple irises decided they were going to bloom. What a special treat to come home to after the field trip

In My Dreams--Crochet Squares

No songs in my head when I woke up this morning, but I was having a dream about crochet. When the alarm went off, it surprised me and the little Grey kitty on the bed, who jumped up in a funny way and hopped on my belly and started purring.

My dream was about the crochet square swap group I'm in. Don't remember any details, just pictures, so I'll share pictures of the squares I've sent out so far. Turns out the group that was supposed to send March squares to me was entirely emergency-ridden, so I got no squares in the mail in the month of March. One person from that group sent me one in February, so that counts, but it was sad to open the mailbox each day to no more squares. Hopefully, the group sending April squares will be different.

Here are the ones I sent :
April squares

March squares

February squares

One of the February squares wasn't needed yet, as there were only 6 in that group, so that square got sent in March. Theoretically by the end of April I should have squares from 3 groups, and each group has 5 to 7 people, so let's just estimate low, and say I should have about 15 squares by the end of the month.

So far I've gotten 7 for the first 2 months, so we'll see how it goes. I'm already putting the afghan squares together with a black border as I get the squares, and I was hoping to post a pic when I get 2 rows of 6 done, so that will just have to wait.....

Other than my crochet picture dream and my purry kitty, the only other thoughts in my head this morning were about my mom, because today is her BIRTHDAY!!! YAY!!!

Happy Birthday, Mom!!! Love you!!! Have fun on your trip and say Hi to Aunt Sandy and Uncle Jimmy for us.

Songs in My Head--Praise You in the Storm

This morning the song in my head was just a melody and fragments that I couldn't quite remember. Took me a while to figure out which song it was.
Here it is --- Casting Crowns, Praise You in the Storm

"Praise You In This Storm"

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus:]
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

[Chorus x2]

Here is a video of the group singing this song

I've also missed a couple of other days....one day last week the Adam Ant song, Goody Two Shoes was running through my head when I woke up. I'm fairly sure that was because they play that song on a gymnastics movie my daughter has (Stick It) and she was watching it the day before.
With the heartbreak open
So much you can't hide
Put on a little makeup, makeup
Make sure they get your good side, good side

If the words unspoken
Get stuck in your throat
Send a treasure token, token
Write it on a pound note, pound note

Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes
Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes

Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
There must be something inside

We don't follow fashion
That'd be a joke
You know we're going to set them, set them
So everyone can take note, take note

When they saw you kneeling
Crying words that you mean
Opening their eyeballs, eyeballs
Pretending that you're Al Green, Al Green

Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes
Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes

Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
Must be something inside

No one's gonna tell me
What's wrong and what's right
Or tell me who to eat with, sleep with
Or that I've won the big fight, big fight

Look out or they'll tell you
You're a "Superstar"
Two weeks and you're an all-time legend
I think the games have gone much too far

If the words unspoken
Get stuck in your throat
Send a treasure token, token
Write it on a pound note, pound note

Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
Must be something inside

'Cause I don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
Must be something inside

'Cause I don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
Must be something inside

'Cause I don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
Must be something inside

'Cause I don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
Must be something inside

Yesterday the song running through my head was a Cars song, Just What I Needed. Almost 100% sure that was because the day before Talon wanted to hear Cars songs all the way home from my mom and dad's house. So for over 70 miles we listened to the Cars: Complete Greatest Hits. Mostly we listened to Hello, since that's my son's favorite song, but we alternated between the others, which I really like as well.

I don't mind you coming here
And wasting all my time
'cause when you're standing oh so near
I kinda lose my mind
It's not the perfume that you wear
It's not the ribbons in your hair
I don't mind you coming here
And wasting all my time
I don't mind you hanging out
And talking in your sleep
It doesn't matter where you've been
As long as it was deep
You always knew to wear it well
You look so fancy I can tell
I don't mind you hanging out
And talking in your sleep
I guess you're just what I needed
I needed someone to feed
I guess you're just what I needed
I needed someone to bleed

If you want to hear the whole album, it happens to be here....Just What I Needed is the first song
