Only One Dead Bird

We finally came home after a week away, and found only one dead bird in the house. That's what we get for being nice and leaving the cat door open so the kitties could come in and out and get warm. At least they left the poor black bird in the kitchen, where it was easy to clean up.

My husband's dad (step-dad actually) passed away suddenly last Sunday, and the time since then has been a whirlwind. We still cannot believe that he is gone. I can still hear his voice and laugh. My children took it well enough and we were glad they had a chance to say a final goodbye at the funeral.

thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I have a feeling that the grieving is just beginning

and for those you who are keeping up....last week was hard too. My parents were hit hard by the winter ice storm and were without electricity for almost the whole week. I didn't sleep much then. Over the weekend my baby got sick with a fever of 102.5 and ended up with an eye/ear infection. My husband's dad had a massive heart attack early Sunday morning. Fast forward to Friday, funeral's over, I am finally on the way home with the kids. We had a major tire blowout just a few miles outside of town on our way home. The tire just shredded. Thank God I made it to the side of the road, and we were safe.

Now we are finally home and it is good. Only one dead bird in my house is nothing. I am so sad about my husband's dad. He will be greatly missed.

Ditto. This has been a very difficult couple of weeks for all of us.

Last night after midnight I was up and found this movie "Snow Day" to watch. During the movie I fell asleep and evidently had a dream about waking up to a snow-covered back yard. Lo and behold I awoke about 6:30 a.m. and what to my wondering eyes should I see????? But, snow aplenty coming down. We have about 1-1/2 inches on the ground. How weird is that? Dad and I had a good laugh.

All the snow looks really pretty, but lurking underneath is the remnants of all the ice we received. Our trees are still ice-covered.

I'm very happy you and the children (and husband, of course) made it home safely yesterday. I'm sure it was good to be back in your own bed after such a long week.

Last night the TCM channel was showing The Birds. It was very disconcerting because we've had several birds slam into our slider and our front door the past couple of days. I think our kitties are chasing them. Haven't found any dead birds but we have quite a few feeding on our back deck.

Plan to go to Paducah Thursday or Friday of next week. Will talk to you about meeting.

Have a great day and here's a big grandma kiss for everybody.

I'm glad that you made it home safe & sound after your horrific week of events. My prayers are still with you as your family makes the adjustment to living without a very important member of your lives. Just as your dad still thinks of his mother and your mother still misses her's, Jason will always think of and miss his dad who was a very important part of all of your lives.

One dead bird...
With the week you just had, you're lucky you didn't come home and find a skunk eating out of the cats dish.

Love you
