Well, every time I go outside I see spiders, spiders, spiders. My husband has been finding brown recluse spiders at his office for at least a month now. In my yard I have seen at least 5 of those yellow and black garden spiders (agriope, i think), almost as many of those spooky looking cross or orb spiders, some wolf spiders. Yesterday I found a black widow spider on the children's little red wagon. That is the second one I found in my yard this season. What is up with all the spiders? I am getting really good at getting spiders off the swingset, big ones, little ones, pretend ones. Well, I am not sure what I have done, but my yard seems perfectly suited for gobs and gobs of spiders this year. I have found out it is not a good idea to google pictures of spiders right before bed. Mostly, as long as they leave me alone, I leave them alone. It is the dangerous ones I don't like, and the jumping ones, and the ones with big staring eyes....

anyway, just venting what is on my mind....maybe all the yucky spiders are at my house and will stay out of yours.

Suddenly we have an absence of spiders...could it be that they're all at your house???

We have a bunch, too. Fortunately I'm not afraid of them. I just can't let my kids get toys out of the shed without me inspecting them first, because no matter what we do we can't get rid of the brown recluse and black widow spiders that live in there...

ICK ICK ICK!!! We're having a bunch of spiders, too, mainly in the house. ICK! 'cept I *am* afraid of them, LOL! Thank goodness I have a daughter who is a really accomplished "Spider Squisher." And yeah...gotta avoid looking at spider pictures right before bed. LOL

We are also seeing a huge number of spiders around the outside of the house. Luckily we are not having very many inside, and thankfully no brown recluses or black widows.

Be sure to use insect repellent on the kids and yourself when you go out in the back yard. I just think the weather we've been having has a lot to do with how many we're seeing. I had one of those yellow and black spiders outside my living room window next to the door. It was there for about a week with a beautiful web and then one day it was all gone. Have no idea what happened to the web.

Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn are having a great time and say "howdy."

Go get some ammonia and put a 1/4 cup in a spray container and fill the rest with water. When you see a spider give it a couple of shots of the spray. They soon get the idea that they are not wanted. I spray our eaves with this solution and it runs the yellow jackets and spiders off. Acrylic clear spray will stiffen those spiders and their nests nice and hard. Do not smell the ammonia, it will relieve you of your breath, not very pleasent.

Its the time of year for spiders, though we are lucky that we don't have any dangerous ones around here. We are also being visited by these tiny moths.

Hmm...you'd think the spiders would take care of the moths for us. Its the least we can do.

On the positive side, spiders are good luck in the traditions of many countries. Some cultures consider them "protectors" of homes and of the innocent. (eg: David & King Saul, http://www.beliefnet.com/story/40/story_4038_1.html )

I know spiders can be good, but they are just so very, very ugly! Their ugliness creeps me out!!!

Yuck! And wolf spiders are gross, because not only are they ugly, but they're hairy!
